When he gets to Garlic Jr.'s "lair", he is met with three of his henchmen. He fights them for a while, and then Piccolo shows up and finishes them off. After that, Gokū and Piccolo fight Garlic Jr. for while (at this point Garlic Jr. had already wished for Eternal life from Shen Long) and then Garlic Jr. opens up the dead zone. Gokū and Piccolo were almost sucked into the dead zone when Gohan came out. He got really upset and unleashed his hidden powers and knocked Garlic Jr. into the dead zone.

In the end Goten realizes that seawater hardens the acid to make it rock, so he has the idea to make a wave to splash the mass of acid. By this time Broly has made the acid stronger and bigger with his energy and vice verse, therefore Broly is a giant acid monster in the sea. Covered in acid Broly hardens into rock. Goten and Trunks go super sayian and with krillan use a Kamehameha wave to destroy the giant statue of Broly.
